Several years ago my grandmother said to me: “Bert, why did you stop drawing? You were so good at it. You could have come a long way with that!”
So for her upcoming birthday I drew her portrait. And that’s how it all started…
After a while of drawing, I decided to try some paint and brushes as well.
First acrylic, and later oil paint too.
Apart from a few drawing lessons and two painting lessons, I am completely 'self-taught'.
It's by making mistakes, and then figuring out how to avoid making them, that I've become the painter I am today.
Apart from painting, I also dedicate some of my time to some other projects, shaped with a variety of materials.
So far, I've already had several exhibitions: national (Peer, Tessenderlo, Bocholt, Maaseik, Zonhoven...)
as well as international (Amsterdam, Paris, London, Dresden...)
These artistic occupations opened up a whole new world for me.
I like it, I enjoy it, and I intend to keep doing it!
